Bullying has become a common topic on social media not only nationwide but on Forney focused social media groups and pages as well. I’ve seen many claims of bullying being a problem within FISD, that FISD does nothing about it, that no one cares, etc. The problem with bullying is similar to reporting a crime to the police. Without proof there is little that any entity can do. Bullying rarely occurs in plain site of those who can put a stop to it. There can also be instances of students making false claims or ill-perceived claims against other students for bullying and punishing the innocent must be avoided.

An ISD is very limited in what they can do when it comes to bullying. If your child has been a victim of bullying, has participated in bullying, or you just want to put a stop to bullying I have provided some resources below that may help you understand the law, Forney ISDs policy, etc. My suggestion is that you get involved. Forming a group in Forney to help ensure the FISD policy is being followed, meeting with community leaders, working on educating our students and parents, etc would be a great way to help. Simply saying that FISD doesn’t care or that they suck is not only false, it doesn’t help the situation. I can assure you that FISD is made up of great people who genuinely care about our children and their education. Lets come together, understand the limits, and work toward a solution. #ForneyFamily
