During the February 21st meeting, the Forney City Council approved a revised plan for a new 336 unit apartment complex that will encompass five three story buildings in the Gateway development. The revised plan allowed for the developer’s use of more hardy lap siding in place of brick. Hardie lap siding is a cheaper product that requires additional maintenance and it’s life span is a fraction of brick. Together the Amanda Lewis, Sarah Salgado, and Jason Roberson team of candidates ran on a platform of slowing growth and improving traffic in Forney but the growth has continued at one of the highest rates in the country. The San Francisco California based company says the complex will be completed in phases with initial leasing beginning in Summer of 2024 and a completion date sometime in Spring of 2025. The expansion of FM 548 is not scheduled to let until 2026 and the various expansion phases of US Hwy 80 will span over the next decade.
